John Wolford is a professional quarterback with seven seasons of experience in the NFL and other professional football leagues. John spent four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, where he made NFL history as the first quarterback to throw for over 200 yards and rush for over 50 yards in a debut game, and contributed to the team’s Super Bowl LVI victory in 2022. He also played two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and had a stint with the New York Jets. Before joining the NFL, John was a starter in the Alliance of American Football (AAF) for the Arizona Hotshots, where he led the league in touchdown passes and earned multiple Player of the Week honors.
John’s career exemplifies resilience and innovation, underpinned by a commitment to science-based training systems. Throughout his professional journey, John has trained extensively with Tom Gormely and spent time with 3DQB, focusing on biomechanics, kinetic sequencing, and skill development. He credits this specialized approach with transforming him from an un-drafted free agent into a seasoned NFL veteran.
A Jacksonville native, John set Florida state records in completions, passing touchdowns, passing yards, and total offense at Bishop Kenny High School. He went on to become a four-year starter at Wake Forest University, earning 2nd Team All-ACC honors as a senior and setting multiple single-season program records. In addition to his athletic achievements, John graduated with a B.S. in Finance, earning the Spirit of Wayne Calloway Award, one of the highest honors bestowed by Wake Forest’s business school.
Outside of football, John’s entrepreneurial drive is evident as a founder of Kinetex, an innovative quarterback training platform that leverages professional-level systems to help youth and high school players maximize their potential. He has also pursued business interests during NFL off-seasons, working at Teall Capital, a growth equity fund, and as a Venture Capital Fellow at Upfront Ventures in Los Angeles.
John’s holistic understanding of football mechanics, scheme and cognitive processing paired with his business acumen, fuels his vision of empowering the next generation of quarterbacks through data-driven, cutting-edge training methodologies.
